Urinary Tract Infection


 

Overview:

Your urinary tract is made up of your kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Any of these components can become infected, however, most common infection happens in the urethra and bladder.

Symptoms:

  • Burning/pain during urination
  • Frequent urination
  • Blood in the urine
  • Urine with a strong odor, or cloudy appearance

Possible Diagnostic Tests:

  • Urine Dip: A test done in the offie to see certain chemicals in the urine.
  • Urinalysis: A more in depth test of the urine using a microscope.
  • Urine Culture: A test used to detect and identify organisms in the urine.
