Urethral Cancer


 

Overview:

The urethra is a tube that connects the bladder to the outside of the body. Cancer of the urehtra is when the cells in the urethra grow uncontrollably, and abnormally. These abnormal cells can create tumors.

Symptoms:

Most cases of cancer do not produce any symptoms until detected by your doctor. However, some of the following may indicate Urethral Cancer.

  • Blood in the urine
  • Pain during urination
  • Pain with intercourse
  • Urethral discharge, or swelling
  • Frequency
  • Reoccuring urinary tract infections 

Possible Diagnostic Tests:

  • Physical Exam
  • Blood and Urine Tests
  • CT Urogram: A CT scan of the kidneys, bladder, and ureters.
  • Biopsy: the removal of tissue to look for cancer cells.
